Speculation about Kim Jong-un’s health intensifies – BBC News

Kim Jong-un recently missed the celebration of his grandfather’s birthday on 15 April. This is one of the biggest events of the year, marking the birth of the nation’s founder. Kim Jong-un has never missed it – and it seemed very unlikely that he would simply choose not to turn up. Inevitably, his absence prompted speculation and rumour, none of which is easy to substantiate. Kim Jong-un last appeared in state media on 12 April “inspecting a pursuit assault plane group” in a handout that is undated. As ever, the images portrayed him as relaxed and at ease. We know he chaired a key political meeting the day before, from state media despatches. But he has not been seen since. Reporting on North Korea is incredibly difficult at the best of times, so most speculation is drawn from departure from precedent. And now, the already secretive state is an even more extreme version of shutdown – after it closed borders at the end of January due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Then he re-appeared, pictured with a cane. State media at the time admitted he was suffering from an “uncomfortable physical condition”, but did not address rumours that he was suffering from gout. #BBCOS #BBCOutsideSource

  1. Kim Jong Un is now Un-Well and Un-Healthy

Edit: After a nice and thorough conversation with North Korean government officials, the supreme leader is fine and totally not in grave danger. Heh.

  2. He could be brain dead, just not dead dead. This situation is wow. When the Prime Ministers of England was in the hospital they divulged everything but his anal temperature. We can’t even get a pulse on this guy.

  3. How odd, in this 'information (read disinformation) age' the death of a great dictator is only speculation for week after week. False hopes were piled upon the beast called 'new technology'.

  4. The guy smokes like a chimney, drinks, and eats too much, with a family history of heart desease i think hes dead. I hope his sister is a better leader

  5. Why are you so obsessed with other countries lives? Why does it bother you that you do not know what happens in other peoples backyard?

  6. Kim Jong-un attended the completion ceremony of a phosphate fertilizer factory. It was clear that he was in good health, and once again, no one was responsible for such baseless journalism.

  7. We have more depressing issues like Corona virus and badly damaged economy. You talk about propaganda against a poor country and people who is doing their own business.

  8. All this speculation is stupid, obviously Kim Jun Un is not coming out much because of the Coronavirus, just like everybody else in the world he is being more careful not to go out unless it's absolutely necessary, this is all clickbait.

  9. CNN: Kim is seriously ill. CNN got exclusive report. No other news channel has it.

    Few days later…

    CNN: Kim might be dead.

    Few days later..

    CNN:Kim is definitely dead.

    Few days later…Kim appread

    CNN : Kim is alive.

    Few days later…

CNN : Trump lied about Kim's death.

  10. He appeared 5/1, but no one knows as he has many body doubles and media is 100% controlled there and all their media is fake. N. Korea is such a closed country no one knows the real truth
